The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to deliver high‑quality patient care and maintains professional accountability for all care provided to assigned patients. This role evaluates the overall effectiveness of care delivered by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Position Details: Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program. Licensure Must hold and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure, meeting all state board of nursing requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Prolonged standing and walking throughout each shift. Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform essential duties. Experience Experience requirements vary by department; previous nursing experience preferred unless otherwise specified. Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or must obtain within 30 days of hire. May be required based on unit assignment or required to obtain within departmental timeframe: ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program ENPC – Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course CPHON – Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse OCN – Oncology Certified Nurse PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support PEARS – Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization S.T.A.B.L.E. – Six Assessment & Care Modules C‑EFM – Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification Other unit‑specific certifications as required Why Mercy? Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
