Job Description Summary:
The role you'll contribute:
Provides care under the direction of the supervising Cardiac physicians and has expertise in the clinical management of the Cardiac patient. The PA/ARNP has the responsibility for assessment and management of cardiac patients including diagnostic and therapeutic intervention, day to day implementation and evaluation of the appropriate plan of care. The PA/ARNP assists the physicians with rounds, creation of orders (admission, ongoing, and discharge), ordering and monitoring of tests, and assessment and evaluation at the bedside. The PA/ARNP works in collaboration with the medical, nursing and support services to provide patient and family focused care. The ARNP maintains active participation in PI activities, Registry data collection, staff development and continuing education.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Assess patient health status through physical exam reviews patient history, diagnostic tests and procedures and review labs and other critical data.
· Diagnose acute and chronic conditions affecting all organs systems.
· Initiate orders for medications, laboratory, and other diagnostic testing and medical treatments on appropriate forms.
· Prescribe interventions and performs therapeutic measures to ensure the appropriate individualized plan of care is implemented. Apply knowledge of age-specific needs i.e.: pediatric adolescents, adult and geriatric patients related to plan of care interventions and patient's responses to care.
· Attend medical rounds with surgeon, and pharmacist. Coordinate treatment plan with other caregivers.
· Lead patient care rounds with nursing team, pharmacy, nutrition, case management, palliative care, and any other as needed ancillary service at least once daily to ensure there is a care plan in place, progress to meet care outcome goals including reduction of length of stay
· Lead efforts to reduce waste and promote efficient processes within the inpatient hospital environment particularly cardiovascular care. This includes leading, developing and enthusiastically engaging in performance improvement projects such as length of stay, reducing in complications including infections and stroke as well as renal injury post procedure/surgery. All midlevel providers must lead one performance improvement project per year relating to cardiovascular
· Write and/or dictate progress notes, procedure notes, history and physical examination, transfers/discharge summaries in accordance with medical policies.
· Evaluate the processes and outcomes to enhance the delivery of excellent, cost-effective health care.
· Initiates treatment of emergency management and patient resuscitation.
· Utilizes his/her knowledge and skills in giving safe and effective patient care and teaching.
· Orders and monitors tests and other diagnostic procedures.
· Participates in hospital/community functions.
· Maintains working knowledge of JC/CMS/AHCA and Core Measures.
· Works with Case Management to assure appropriate utilization of services and length of stay for cardiac patients.
· Other duties as assigned.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduate from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), the successor program to CAAHEP "or"

Graduate of an accredited Masters or Doctorate Nursing Practitioner Program
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

State of Florida ARNP or Physician Assistant Licensure
-
NCCPA or ARNP Certification through AANP or ANCC
-
BLS and ACLS Certifications
-
Continuing education required to maintain licensure
