Position Overview
The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) will provide on-site diabetic care and monitoring for preschool-aged children enrolled in the CYS Summer Camp program at Fort Meade. This position currently supports a 1:1 student assignment , with the potential for the caseload to expand if additional students require diabetic care services during the summer session.
Key Responsibilities

Provide daily diabetic care for preschool students, including blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration

Monitor students for signs of hypo- or hyperglycemia and respond appropriately

Maintain accurate documentation of care provided according to facility and regulatory standards

Communicate effectively with CYS staff, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers as needed

Ensure a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate environment for all students

Adapt to potential increases in patient load if additional students require diabetic support
Requirements

Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (Maryland or compact)

Pediatric and/or diabetic care experience strongly preferred

Experience working with young children in a school, camp, or childcare setting preferred

Strong assessment, organization, and communication skills

Ability to work independently in a 1:1 care setting

Qualifications

Current licensed Registered Nurse (RN) within the state of practice.

Minimum of one year of maternal child health acute clinical experience or Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) experience within the last three years preferred.

Current BLS card.

Current PALS (if applicable)
-
Current Health Certificate (if applicable)

Current PPD or Chest X-ray.
