Position Summary:
The Inpatient Medical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider provides comprehensive, high-quality care to hospitalized oncology patients. This role functions collaboratively with attending physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals to manage complex oncologic conditions, treatment-related complications, and supportive care needs.
The APP is responsible for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management in accordance with established clinical protocols and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments including history, physical examinations, interpretation of diagnostic studies.
Manage acute and chronic oncologic conditions including solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, treatment-related toxicities, and oncologic emergencies.
Assist with hospital rounding, consults, and discharge planning.
Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing, and procedures
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians
Participate in care coordination with oncologists, palliative care teams, radiology, pharmacy, and case management
Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
Facilitate communication with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and goals of care
Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.
Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida.
BLS/ACLS
Preferred Skills:
Experience in Bone Marrow Biopsies a plus
Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record
