About Baylor Scott & White Health
53 hospitals. Eight Magnet-designated facilities. Over 59,000 team members. The largest not-for-profit health system in Texas — and one of the few in the country with its own dedicated Nursing Institute.
Those numbers matter because Texas matters. The state's population has surged past 30 million, yet it ranks 47th nationally in physicians per capita. That gap creates enormous demand for experienced registered nurses — and enormous opportunity. Baylor Scott & White Health nursing jobs put you at the center of that equation: a growing system, in a growing state, with infrastructure designed to advance the nursing profession.
The Nursing Institute — A Differentiator Worth Understanding
Most health systems talk about supporting nursing development. Baylor Scott & White built an entire institute around it. The Nursing Institute provides the framework for evidence-based practice, professional development, research participation, and career path design across every BSW care site. It's one of only a handful of structures like it in the country, giving bedside nurses direct access to resources that typically require academic affiliation.
Through the Institute, nurses engage in shared governance at unit and system levels, participate in evidence-based practice fellowships with universities like Texas Christian University, and contribute to published research. At BSW Medical Center – Grapevine, 51% of nurses hold national certification — reflecting a culture where specialty credentialing is actively supported, not just encouraged.
Where You'll Work
Registered nurse positions at Baylor Scott & White span three academic medical centers (Dallas, Fort Worth, and Temple), eight teaching hospitals, specialty heart and rehabilitation hospitals, McLane Children's, and a rapidly expanding network of emergency hospitals and urgent care sites.
The system is actively building. A new Frisco medical center opened in 2025, and four additional emergency hospitals are planned across Dallas-Fort Worth. For nurses, expansion means new units, new leadership roles, and less competition for advancement. Clinical specialties include cardiac surgery, oncology, neurosciences, trauma, orthopedics, NICU, women's services, rehabilitation, and outpatient care. U.S. News & World Report honored 20 BSW hospitals in 2025, with seven earning national rankings across 11 specialties.
Residency and Transition Programs
Nursing careers at Baylor Scott & White start strong for new graduates. The Nurse Residency Program holds ANCC accreditation with distinction as a Practice Transition Program — the highest recognition available. Residents receive structured mentorship, clinical immersion, and competency development focused on judgment, leadership, and research integration. The program is fully compensated.
For experienced RNs entering a new specialty, Transition to Practice programs offer similar structured support.
Compensation and Benefits
RN jobs with Baylor Scott & White include an RN Bonus Program that rewards nurses for measurable contributions to patient outcomes. Relocation assistance is available for full-time hires. Benefits kick in immediately and include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, PTO, and tuition reimbursement available from day one for both full-time and part-time nurses — including support for RN certification testing.
In 2025, 12 of the 25 nurses recognized by the Texas Nurses Association as Outstanding Texas Nurses worked at Baylor Scott & White. That kind of representation doesn't happen by accident — it reflects a system that invests in helping nurses build credentials that carry weight beyond its own walls.
