About Piedmont Healthcare
Piedmont Healthcare Nursing Jobs: Georgia's Largest Private Employer Is Hiring Across 27 Hospitals
Most health systems serve a city. Some serve a region. Piedmont Healthcare covers a state. With 27 hospitals and more than 2,171 care locations reaching communities that represent 85 percent of Georgia's population, Piedmont Healthcare nursing jobs offer something rare: the ability to build an entire career — across specialties, settings, and geographies — without ever leaving one system. Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Atlanta, Piedmont is a private, not-for-profit organization with nearly 50,000 employees and approximately $6.5 billion in net revenue, making it the largest Georgia-based private employer in the state.
A clinical range that matches the footprint.
The flagship Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is a 643-bed facility that has anchored Buckhead for over a century. Piedmont Augusta, at 812 beds, is the second-oldest hospital in Georgia and the area's only Magnet-designated facility. Piedmont Athens Regional brings a 427-bed acute care hospital with a Level II trauma center and Level III neonatal ICU to northeast Georgia. Across the system, nurses can work in acute care, critical care, emergency, women's services, cardiovascular progressive care, surgical services, transplant, and more — with the option to move between hospitals as interests evolve.
A heart program that competes nationally.
Piedmont Heart Institute performed 103 heart transplants in 2024 — a 29 percent increase over the prior year and a volume that places it among the top four busiest heart transplant centers in the country alongside Cedars-Sinai, Vanderbilt, and Mayo Clinic. The program has completed more than 375 transplants since launching in 2012 and remains the No. 1 program nationally by LVAD implant volume. In 2024, surgeons launched a dual heart/kidney transplant program, completing 13 cases, and recently added heart/liver capability. For nurses drawn to high-acuity cardiac care, this is one of the most active programs in the Southeast.
Benefits built around whole-person wellness.
Piedmont's total rewards package goes beyond the standard checklist. A 24/7 Wellness Coaching App provides live coaching on demand. Dedicated peer coaching programs exist specifically for nurses and physicians. Financial wellness planning, broad EAP services, and an integrated platform connecting all benefits and wellness offerings round out the support structure. Core benefits include 100 percent paid maternity leave, combined PTO for greater scheduling flexibility, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, fully paid long-term disability, and sign-on bonuses up to $20,000 for qualifying RN positions. Piedmont also accepts the eNLC multistate nursing license, broadening the candidate pool for nurses relocating from compact states.
A residency that launches three times a year.
Piedmont's 12-month RN Residency Program runs spring, summer, and fall cohorts across the system, with placements in ICU, emergency, med-surg, progressive care, OR, cardiovascular OR, transplant, and women's services. Each resident completes an evidence-based practice project and benefits from dedicated preceptors and a residency coordinator. The program is designed to build clinical judgment, communication skills, and professional identity — and it feeds directly into a system large enough to offer long-term advancement without requiring a job change.
Recognition that reflects the culture.
Piedmont Mountainside holds the longest Leapfrog A-grade streak in Georgia at 19 consecutive cycles. Newsweek has named Piedmont one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity three years running, and the system operates 17 local Diversity Councils. The Promise 360 recognition program honors employees nominated by peers, patients, and visitors, with annual President's Award ceremonies spotlighting top contributors.
