The Cardiac PETCT RN provides direct patient care to Cardiac PETCT patients. Plans and implements individualized care using the nursing process. Coordinates all Cardiac PETCT care in patient-focused manner.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Supplies Cardiac PET/CT Clinical Support

Administer pharmacologic stress agents (e.g., Regadenoson, Adenosine, Dobutamine) in accordance with established protocols

Perform IV access and ensure patency for radiopharmaceutical and medication administration

Monitor patients continuously during stress and imaging phases:
-
ECG rhythm
-
Blood pressure
-
Oxygen saturation
-
Patient symptoms
Conduct pre-procedure assessment including:

Medical history review
-
Medication reconciliation
-
Contraindication screening for stress agents
-
Identify high-risk patients and escalate concerns to supervising physician
-
Provide patient education regarding procedure, risks, and expectations

Maintain weekly/daily check of crash cart
-
Maintain weekly/daily check of rapid response drug box
-
Maintain weekly/daily check of O2
Recognize and respond to:
Initiate emergency protocols as needed:

ACLS interventions
-
Medication administration
-
Ensure immediate communication with supervising physician
-
Monitor patient recovery post-stress
-
Provide discharge instructions and ensure patient stability prior to release

Document all clinical findings, interventions, and patient responses

Attends in-service and educational offerings to maintain current knowledge, skills and license. Identifies own learning needs and seek opportunities for self-growth.

Maintains current competency skill checklists. Completes and maintains age-specific growth and development competencies as required. Follows Infection Control policies and procedures. Participates in ongoing CQI monitoring and data collection.Identifies areas for improvement and makes suggestions for innovative solutions
Position Requirements:
Preferred:
- One (1) to three (3) years' progressive experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
The employee may be exposed to radioactive isotopes, ionizing radiation, and a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
