Registered Nurse - Pharmacy
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Pharmacy Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team. This role involves working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the efficient operation of our pharmacy services, primarily focused on surgical settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmaceuticals and nursing, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and patient safety.
Responsibilities

Assist the Pharmacist in performing essential functions and monitoring medication therapy.

Restock emergency crash cart boxes and evaluate drug delivery systems for medication errors.

Monitor the safe storage of drugs and adhere to guidelines to prevent medication errors.

Train new nurses and RNs on EHR and Pyxis systems.

Discuss medication on discharge with patients if the Pharmacist is unavailable.

Answer medication-related questions from patients and nurses.

Understand J-Codes and revenue codes for building new medications in the formulary and charge master.

Check outdates monthly via Pyxis reports and in crash carts.

Ensure dependable attendance and punctuality.

Assist with order input and check with patients on medications.

Package and label medications for checking by the Pharmacist.

Maintain medication prices daily using Excel.

Fill health clinic medication orders and update drug descriptions in EHR.

Order supplies for the hospital, clinics, and surgery, ensuring best price selection.

Ensure adequate inventory to run the hospital and transfer stock to Pyxis machines daily.

Perform annual inventory and maintain professional knowledge through workshops.

Communicate effectively within healthcare teams and participate in team problem-solving.

Comply with HIPAA regulations, OSHA, and company policies and procedures.

Participate in department meetings and work on-call as needed.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
-
Current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse.

Extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals and prior pharmacy experience.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Strong background in pharmacy tech roles, particularly in surgical settings.

Experience in medication review and therapy.

Critical thinking and adaptability.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in ICU or surgery centers is highly beneficial.

Excellent customer service and consulting skills.

Proficiency in order entry, stocking, and inventory management.

Ability to work flexibly and show up on time.
Work Environment
The position offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, with surgeries on the third Saturday of every month for half a day. The work environment is supportive and collaborative, with a strong team of doctors and anesthesiologists. The atmosphere is relaxed, with occasional team meals and food brought in. The role is primarily consulting-based with minimal on-site requirements during on-call weeks. The location is in Leewood, and we value references highly in our recruitment process.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
