Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Surgical Admissions Nurse at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, you will provide excellent and appropriate direct patient care in our dynamic pre-post surgical units. This crucial role involves developing comprehensive patient care plans, including discharge processes, and meticulously documenting patient history, assessment, and care. You will be the primary point of contact for coordinating all aspects of patient preparation before the day of surgery, ensuring a smooth and informed experience for our patients and their families.
Every day you will communicate pertinent information to physician office staff, enhancing organizational relationships with providers and their teams. You'll deliver thorough pre-operative pain management education and general patient/family education tailored to individual learning needs. Maintaining current knowledge in your area of expertise, including specific patient population needs, is paramount, as is assisting in data collection for performance improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures. You will demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to follow instructions, analyze data, coordinate tasks, and manage workload effectively. Experience with a patient care module or PC is a plus. Your commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and adherence to policies and standards will be vital in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and supporting our mission.

Three (3) years experience in OR, Ambulatory Surgery or Pre-Admission Clinic knowledge of surgical procedures

ADN, Diploma, BSN or Foreign Equivalent

Registered Nurse: AZ

Pay Range
$35.00 - $58.63 /hour
