Registered Nurse (RN) - Summer School Program (K-8)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM - 1:15 PM
Hours: 27.5 hours/week
Compensation: Up to $50/hr based on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support a K-8 summer school program. The General School Nurse will provide comprehensive health services to students across multiple grade levels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and the ability to address a wide variety of student health needs.
Key Responsibilities

Provide daily nursing care and health support to students

Manage chronic health conditions, including:

Diabetes care
-
Seizure management and protocol implementation

Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and school policies

Respond to routine health concerns, including:

Minor injuries (bumps, bruises)
-
Bug bites
-
Heat-related illnesses and dehydration
-
Deliver first aid and emergency response as needed
-
Maintain accurate and timely health documentation
-
Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and school staff

Collaborate with program staff and related service providers

Promote student wellness and reinforce health and safety practices

Support overall health office operations
Qualifications
-
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)

Previous school nursing or pediatric experience preferred

Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Minimum Requirements:
-
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment

Bachelor's Degree, preferred

School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
-
One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Current CPR if applicable
-
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
