Position Summary
The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works in close and direct contact with adults in custody, providing both general and emergency nursing care within the Medical and Ambulatory units of the correctional facility. The LPN ensures high-quality patient care while strictly adhering to all facility safety, security, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities

Provide routine, urgent, and emergency nursing care to individuals in custody

Assist with medical evaluations, treatments, and medication administration per physician orders

Monitor patient health status and report changes to appropriate medical staff

Accurately document patient care activities in accordance with facility and regulatory standards

Respond to medical emergencies while maintaining security protocols

Collaborate with medical, security, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care

Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and facility regulations
Minimum Qualifications

Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Virginia

Minimum of one (1) year of; corrections experience strongly preferred
-
Current CPR certification
-
Completed TB screening (TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, as applicable)

Current health certificate
-
Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
