Fairview Hospital's Level III Birthing Center provides care to patients in labor and delivery and offers specialized treatment for those with elevated-risk antepartum or postpartum needs. In this role, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional, high-quality care to a diverse patient population while also serving as a Cord Blood Coordinator. Responsibilities include reviewing patient records for eligible candidates, obtaining informed consent, assisting the obstetrician during the final phase of labor with umbilical cord blood collection, preparing and providing necessary collection materials, obtaining peripheral blood for infectious disease testing, accurately labeling cord blood units, entering and managing data, communicating with the Cleveland Cord Blood Center, and maintaining the environment and supplies in accordance with regulations. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients while expanding your nursing skills through hands-on experience and the educational resources available throughout the Cleveland Clinic system.
A caregiver in this role works days from 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., with rotating weekend requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Collect, document and report patient data and observations.

Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.

Work as a scrub nurse in our OR.

Help with admissions, breaks and lunches and in the recovery room.

Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.

Perform routine laboratory tests.

Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program

Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.

Involves extensive standing and walking.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $23.25
Maximum hourly: $33.50
