Job Title: Telehealth Oncology Nurse (RN)
Job Description
This telehealth nursing role focuses on counseling and educating patients receiving specialty drug therapies, with an emphasis on oncology and acute care. The nurse provides remote triage support, promotes therapy adherence, and ensures safe and effective use of medications while maintaining strict compliance with contracted and accrediting regulations. The position requires thorough documentation, patient-centered communication, and collaboration with regulatory authorities when adverse events or product complaints arise.
Responsibilities

Counsel and educate new and existing patients on specialty drug therapies, with a focus on oncology and acute care populations.

Provide telehealth triage services to assess patient needs, address clinical concerns, and guide appropriate next steps in care.

Discuss potential and current side effects of prescribed therapies with patients, explaining treatment alternatives and strategies to support ongoing therapy adherence.

Promote and monitor adherence to contracted and accrediting regulations as indicated by specific drug requirements.

Complete thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in accordance with good documentation practices and industry standards.

Maintain compliance with all relevant professional practice standards, technical procedures, and government regulations related to pharmacy operations and patient care.

Identify, document, and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to the appropriate manufacturer, the FDA, and other governing authorities as required.

Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to support patient engagement, behavior change, and adherence to treatment plans.

Use email, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based programs to manage patient information, clinical documentation, and telehealth workflows.

Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support patient access to therapies and continuity of care.

Participate in preceptor-led training and ongoing work activities to maintain and enhance clinical and operational competence.

Work toward obtaining licensing in all states and United States territories serviced within three months of employment, following supported licensing programs when applicable.
Essential Skills

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina with a valid multi-state compact nursing license and no restrictions.

Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or higher in Nursing, or completion of an accredited nursing diploma program.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with 3-5 or more years of post-graduate experience in pharmacy operations and patient care.

At least 5 years of nursing experience, including 5 or more years of overall nursing practice.

Minimum of 1 year of acute inpatient care experience, preferred.

Demonstrated experience in telehealth, triage, and acute care nursing.

Experience in oncology nursing and caring for patients on oncology-related specialty drug therapies.

Strong patient education skills, including the ability to explain complex clinical information in clear, understandable terms.

Proficiency with computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based programs.

Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct motivational interviewing.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret practice standards, professional journals, technical procedures, and government standards and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment
This role is based in a telehealth-focused environment that supports patient care and access to specialty drug therapies. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. Nurses use computers extensively, including email, word processing, spreadsheet tools, and web-based applications, to document care, communicate with patients, and manage clinical workflows. The position operates within a large healthcare setting that emphasizes patient-centered care, regulatory compliance, and collaboration across disciplines. A valid North Carolina multi-state nursing license with no restrictions is required, and there is structured training with a preceptor to support onboarding and integration into daily work activities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $41.00/hr.
