Job Summary:
To coordinate the clinical and administrative operations of the WHCNP/CNM Service within the OBGyn Department, ensuring high quality health care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost-effective manner in accordance with accepted professional practice standards.
Essential Responsibilities:

Clinical Activities: Maintains clinical skills through the provision of direct patient care. The amount of direct patient care provided by the Regional Lead will be in conjunction with the needs of the service. In general, the Regional Lead will schedule 20 hours per week administrative time with the remaining 12-20 hours per weeks performing clinical duties.

Human Resources Activates: Hiring: Participates in the hiring of new AC staff, consistent with the principles of the Labor/Management Partnership. Orientation: Coordinates the orientation of new AC staff and facilitates the credentialing process for CNMs. Evaluation: Provides input into the yearly performance evaluations of WHCNP/CNMs as needed.

Scheduling Activates: Facilitates the creation of scheduling templates for CNM groups in all Service Areas. Liaison to the ObGyn medical staff scheduling department. Monitors staffing patterns to assure cost-effective utilization of resources in meeting patient care standards. Participates in the identification and recommendation of staffing levels as part of the Leadership Team. Coordination of the on-call AC staff.

Development and implementation of Policies and Guidelines: Participates in committees which address departmental or organizational policies or Guidelines. Communicates changes to the AC staff in a timely manner.

Maintenance of Quality Care: Represents, or assures AC representation of the ObGyn AC staff, on Quality improvement committees or other committees where credentialing, skill Assessment, practice or competencies are evaluated. Maintains Practice Guidelines specific to AC practice in collaboration with ObGyn Medical Group.

Coordination of Student Assignments: Liaison between educational programs and AC staff. Facilitates placement of NP/CNM students in clinical settings within Kaiser facilities.

Budget Activates: Participates in the budget activities of the ObGyn Department. Monitors the AC budget goals. Identifies cost-effective staffing patterns. Supports a process of cost containment for the ObGyn Department.

Leadership Activities: Actively participates in administrative meetings at the departmental, hospital, and organizational level to provide information and input in decision-making which affects AC area of responsibility. Kaiser CNM Liaison to non-plan hospitals. Coordinates Regional ObGyn Regional AC meetings. Demonstrates effective communication with patients, clinicians, and staff. Facilitates resolution of member concerns as they relate to AC patient care issues. Acts as a mentor and coach in assisting team members with training or Educational needs.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Minimum five (5) years of experience as a WHCNP or CNM within the Kaiser Permanente Organization.
Education

Masters in nursing or Masters of Science in nursing degree.

Graduate of a nurse-midwifery or womens health education program accredited by one of the following: 1.The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) Division of Accreditation (DOA) 2.The National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or 3. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CONE).
