How you'll contribute
A Nurse Extern I who excels in this role:
Performs direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a registered nurse.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to supervising RN.
Maintains positive professional relationship with patient/ families, coworkers, and health care team.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for
Applicants should be currently enrolled in nursing school and in their first or second semester of the program.
Additional requirements include:
- Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire
- Required Skills: Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment, Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while taking appropriate action.
- Education: School of Nursing first or second semester student.
