Job Summary: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Practitioner (NP) NP is responsible for assessment of the patients and, in conjunction with the physician utilizes advanced nursing skills to render care to patients primarily within the ICU setting of the hospital and will assist outside the ICU as directed by the Intensivist. The nursing process will be utilized (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and teaching) in providing care.
Job Specifications:
Required Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Successful completion of a Masters in Nursing Program.
Preferred Education: N/A
Required Licensure: Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification and a current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Mississippi as an Acute Care Practitioner.
Preferred Licensure: N/A
Required Experience: 3 years experience as an ICU nurse
Preferred Experience: 1 year of experience as an NP
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the age of the patients served; also, demonstrate the knowledge/ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status. Ability to problem solve for patients with complicated disorders; to interpret physician instructions, provide care using standard nursing principles, practices, and procedures. Must possess strong and effective communication skills.
