Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining inventory, and supporting day-to-day pharmacy operations. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this entry-level role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy service delivery.
Essential Functions
- Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems
- Fills medication carts on a daily basis
- Prepares and restocks prepackaged medications and bulk inventory
- Verifies inventory, receives/stores supplies, and updates inventory records
- Assists in maintaining compliance with pharmacy storage and handling procedures
- Follows procedures for labeling and packaging to ensure accuracy
- Performs clerical duties to support pharmacy operations
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and medications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to use inventory management and pharmacy software systems
- Able to follow instructions and work under pharmacist supervision
- Demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, and customer service orientation
- Able to stand, move, lift, and bend for extended periods
- Must be able to handle physical and biological exposure typical in a hospital pharmacy environment
QualificationsEducation
- High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role or High School Student Enrollment in an accredited high school or dual-enrollment program with demonstrated progress toward completion (Preferred) Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire. (Required) Completion of a pharmacy technician training program (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications
- LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Registration or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy required, where mandated by state law. Upon Hire (Required)
Experience
- Zero to 1 year experience in a healthcare of pharmacy setting (Preferred)
