Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.
At Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children, the Newborn Special Care Unit provides continuous care to newborns of up to three months, including meeting the complex psychosocial needs of both the child and their family. Nursing and medical support staff in the NSCU work with the Neonatology team to care for premature babies and newborns requiring special care. Support and education are delivered to patients and family in an atmosphere that promotes bonding of the family unit.
If you have exceptional patient care skills and enjoy working as part of a dedicated nursing team, you can help us to ensure a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and their families as a Charge Nurse in Kapi'olani's Newborn Special Care Unit. You would be responsible for coordinating nursing activity during assigned shifts; delegating nursing care assignments based on available staff and resources; and overseeing appropriate patient care within nursing and departmental guidelines. This position is for someone qualified and assertive, with excellent communication skills, a strong sense of quality control, the ability to manage staff and unit work priorities and a commitment to helping our organization deliver the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.

Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai'i Registered Nurse License. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) CPR cards. Two (2) years recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in a Special Care Nursery (NICU II), including six (6) months relief charge nurse experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards.
