Position Overview
Seeking an RN to work the summer program for about 100 students grades 6-12 located in Weston, MA. Typical general school nursing duties including diabetes care management, med passing and EPI-Pen administration. Camp starts July 22nd but they would like someone to start the week prior for orientation. Could start ASAP and go into the summer or if it's a good fit, they would extend into next school year! Hours are 8:00-4:00 Monday-Friday. Some programs in the camp include archery, athletics and boating. Camp ends August 14th. Potential extension into next school year!
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 nursing care for a diabetic student

Monitor blood glucose levels and manage the student's insulin pump

Support and monitor feeding and mealtime assistance as needed

Ensure the student is able to remain in class as much as possible

Collaborate with school staff to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment

Follow all school health plans and medical protocols
Requirements

Registered Nurse license required

Experience working with pediatric or school-based populations preferred

Diabetes and Pediatric Experience Required

The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. The School RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students within the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promoting the health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronic conditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff and healthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis' philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment

Bachelor's Degree, preferred

School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
-
One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
-
Current CPR if applicable
-
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
-
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
-
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
