Substance Abuse Registered Nurse
Location: Greenville, NC Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (Night Shift) Schedule: 36/48 EOW Contract Length: 16 Weeks Start Date: 06/01/2026
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurses with strong triage and mental health backgrounds to join a state-operated behavioral health and substance-use treatment environment in Greenville, NC. This role supports adult patients receiving inpatient psychiatric and substance-use treatment, as well as outpatient opioid treatment services.
Triage experience is required.
Key Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient behavioral health setting

Conduct triage assessments and respond to acute patient needs

Administer medications and treatments per protocol

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Document care using EPIC
-
Support patients undergoing detoxification, stabilization, and recovery
Candidate Requirements
-
Must have lived in North Carolina within the past 5 years
-
Candidates who lived outside NC in the past 5 years require fingerprinting (4-6 week turnaround). This assignment cannot accept candidates requiring fingerprint clearance.

Active RN license

Triage experience (required)

Psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred
Interview Process
Orientation & Onboarding

First 2-4 weeks: Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM

No RTO or call-outs permitted during orientation

First day instructions provided prior to start

All staff begin on day shift for orientation
