Position Overview
Location: Correctional Facilities throughout Virginia Job Type: PRN / As-Needed
If you're a nurse who believes every person deserves dignity, compassion, and quality care, this role offers a meaningful way to put that belief into practice. As a Correctional LPN, you'll work closely with adults and youth in custody, often becoming a steady, trusted presence in an environment where healthcare can truly change lives.
You'll provide essential medical support in the Medical and Ambulatory units, helping patients manage chronic conditions, navigate emergencies, and understand their own health. Your work will be hands-on, collaborative, and deeply impactful - and you'll be supported by a team that values safety, communication, and respect.
This PRN role is ideal for nurses who want flexibility while still making a real difference.
Key Responsibilities

Provide general and emergency nursing care to incarcerated adults and juveniles

Perform assessments, administer medications, and support chronic and acute care needs

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and healthcare protocols

Collaborate with RNs, physicians, mental health staff, and correctional officers

Support crisis intervention and respond to medical emergencies as needed

Uphold all security procedures and contribute to a safe clinical environment
Minimum Requirements

Active Practical Nursing License (LPN) in the state of Virginia

Minimum of one year of correctional healthcare experience

Current CPR/BLS certification

Completed TB screening (questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray as applicable)

Current Health Certificate (as required by state or contract)

Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

Must be at least 18 years old
