Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our ICU RN at Good Samaritan Hospital, you'll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.
Every day, you will take a report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You'll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, providing wound care, ensuring patients MRI or CT, or administering medications.
To thrive in this vital role, you'll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You'll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot.

Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort

Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families

Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients

Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use; utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms when necessary

Initiates emergency support measures

Assists with patient care duties/tasks

Job Requirements
Required

Graduate of a nursing program

Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within five(5) months of hire

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within five(5) months of hire
Where You'll Work
The ICU at CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 24 bed unit. We take care of any critical care patient and specialize in high acuity care. We strive to leverage technology and highly skilled nurses to allow our community and surrounding areas to receive health care close to home.
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
Pay Range
$36.00 - $52.20 /hour
