Job Summary and Qualifications
The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
What you will do in this role:
- Conducts complete patient evaluation prior to procedure. Ensures patient/family/caregiver understands the procedure and the peri-operative process. Obtains and witnesses consent form.Assumes responsibility for preparation of surgical suite. Assumes responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, surgical site verification, and patient positioning and/or draping. Circulates or scrubs for surgical procedures in accordance with current practice. Operates essential equipment during procedure as needed and ensures proper function. Monitors patient vital signs and comfort level throughout the procedure and promptly alerts surgical team of any change in status or potential harm. Recognizes emergency situations and responds effectively in a calm and controlled manner. Ensures adherence to quality and safety regulations during the intra-operative process, including sterile techniques, accurate documentation of supply and equipment counts, and proper care and handling of tissues, implants, specimens, and cultures. Performs Phase 2 recovery as needed, including discharge, education, and planning.
