Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Outpatient RN, you will be a crucial healthcare professional responsible for patient care coordination and advocacy within a dynamic orthopedic setting. Your expertise will be essential in eliminating care barriers, facilitating patient flow, and enhancing overall patient and provider satisfaction. This direct patient care role emphasizes comprehensive support, ensuring a seamless healthcare journey for individuals and families.
Every day you will educate patients on their conditions and treatment plans, provide vital post-surgical outreach, conduct basic wound care, and collect outcomes data to drive quality improvement. You'll serve as a primary liaison, addressing patient concerns, navigating complex resources, and coordinating interdisciplinary services to empower patients and their caregivers. Your exceptional problem-solving and communication skills will ensure equitable access to care, including securing language interpretation and managing socioeconomic barriers.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California, along with BLS-CPR certification. A minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience, especially within an orthopedic or oncology setting, is critical. You must demonstrate strong time management, conflict resolution, and communication skills, with an ability to connect with diverse patient populations and collaborate effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment.

Educate patients about their diseases, treatment, and side effects of treatment and how to manage them

Routine post surgical patient outreach to assess post surgical recovery remotely and address barriers in recovery in a timely manner to optimize recovery

Collection of patient reported outcomes data to identify metrics to improve and enhance delivery of care and further orthopedic research

Basic wound care / dressing care as needed and post op assessment of recovery

Provide clinical resources - where to seek a second opinion, treatment or testing that may not be available locally, and how to access reliable sources of information

Assess patients for psychosocial distress and referral to a medical social worker or counselor if more intensive support is needed

Answer questions as appropriate and serve as a liaison to the physician for additional questions and concerns

Required

Bachelors Of Nursing

Three (3) years clinical nursing experience

Current and valid Registered Nurse: CA license (RN:CA)

Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) certification from the American Heart Association

Mandatory Reporter Adult and Mandatory Reporter Child; tracked through Learning system

Knowledge of how to plan and deliver care to a diversion population of patients

Ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of age groups, social strata and ethnic backgrounds

Time management, public relations promotion, conflict resolution and ability to be creative and innovative

Demonstrated ability for problem solving; decision making; and establishing effective rapport with personnel, patients, families, physicians, and colleagues

Pay Range
$47.41 - $70.52 /hour
