Job Description:
Provides quality patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse using the Nursing Process. Performs and documents accurate reassessments, including ongoing observation, utilization of restraints, pain management, respiratory therapy, and dressing changes. Implements and collaborates on the plan of care as determined by the Registered Nurse. Collects blood samples via phlebotomy, venous line, and PICC/Midline Catheter, and discontinues PICC, midline, or central lines with completed competency. Provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, and culture. Administers ordered treatments and medications within scope of practice safely and according to physician's orders. Monitors patient's status throughout shift and reports pertinent patient information and significant findings to appropriate healthcare team members. Properly documents and reports all procedures and medication administrations in the electronic medical record in accordance with hospital policy. Demonstrates effective communication skills with all team members, patients, and families. Performs physical exams throughout shift, including assessing physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs. Collaborates with the registered nurse, reviews and implements care plans and makes appropriate nursing decisions and interventions, recognizing and reporting problems. Delegates tasks appropriately to unlicensed personnel. Other duties as assigned. Participates in education and discharge planning using established education materials. Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies. Supervises other healthcare team members in the clinical environment and assists with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
