The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Capacity Management Registered Nurse to join our Transfer Center team!

This is a dynamic role for an experienced RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys combining clinical expertise with critical thinking, communication, and operational decision-making. As a Capacity Management RN, you will play a central role in ensuring patients are placed in the right bed, at the right level of care, at the right time.
Working closely with physicians, nursing leadership, care management, patient placement teams, and referring hospitals, you will help coordinate patient movement across Penn Medicine while ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
What You'll Do:

Coordinate timely and appropriate patient placement throughout Penn Medicine.

Assess admissions from all portals of entry to determine the appropriate level of care and assign patients to the most appropriate inpatient unit. - Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize bed assignments based on patient acuity, operational needs, and available resources.

Coordinate interfacility transfers through the Penn Medicine Transfer Center, serving as a liaison between referring hospitals and Penn Medicine providers.

Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, case management, and hospital leadership to optimize patient flow and capacity.

Assign Medicine teams and residents for appropriate admissions.

Review transfer requests for clinical appropriateness and facilitate buy-back agreements when indicated.

Support system-wide patient throughput initiatives while maintaining a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes.

Minimum Requirements:
-Must have a Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree and be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania
-Minimum of 5 years' clinical experience
-Critical Care/ED Experience preferred
-Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all members of care team is critical
