Job Title : Peer Review Specialist
Department: Medical Affairs
Shift: 1st Shift
Status: 1.0 (40 hours a week)
Purpose: Provides assistance to medical staff leaders and medical staff members. Coordinates peer review process. Responsible for monitoring regulatory compliance of CMS and TJC related to Genesis Medical Centers' privileged providers. Provide administrative support for conflict management. Responsible for medical staff committee agenda development, accurate recording of discussions and actions, and appropriate follow up and maintenance of minutes as it pertains to peer review. Provide support for Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) of privileged providers to evaluate current competency and quality of patient care. Provides data analysis and ongoing evaluation of data integrity related to OPPE, FPPE, and Peer Review. Assists with medical staff meetings and credentialing. Report To: Manager

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education : Bachelor's Degree
Field OF Study: Nursing or related healthcare background
Training Preferred: Registered Nurse in Iowa and/or Illinois, Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM), Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Experience: More than 3 years experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity. Contact with others may involve detailed & lengthy dialogues & exchanges of information. Requires a moderate amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated problem
Working Condition: There is very limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics may occur but the physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk. No safety equipment or unusual precautions are required. The amount of time the employee may experience these minor adverse conditions would be limited to 10% or less of the work day.
