Join our team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Community Living Center (CLC) at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. In this role you will work as a valued member of the nursing team under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse, delivering safe, compassionate physical and emotional care to our nation's Veterans. The Community Living Center provides short-stay and long-term skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care in a home-like environment, and our CNAs are central to the daily comfort, dignity, and quality of life of every resident. You will assist Veterans with activities of daily living, monitor and document changes in condition, and support individualized care plans while building meaningful relationships with residents and their families. This is a rewarding opportunity to serve those who served, working 8 or 12 hour shifts alongside a supportive interdisciplinary team.
Qualification and Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant or in a related patient-care role

Active, current CNA license/certification in good standing

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
-
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program

U.S. citizenship and proficiency in written and spoken English (per 38 U.S.C. 7402(d))

Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents and to stand or walk for extended periods
-
Strong interpersonal, communication, and observation skills
-
Ability to pass a background check and required health screenings
Responsibilities
-
Assist Veterans with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility

Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, weights, and changes in physical or behavioral condition, reporting promptly to the RN
-
Safely transfer, reposition, and ambulate residents using proper body mechanics and assistive devices

Support implementation of individualized care and behavioral management plans developed by the interdisciplinary team

Observe and document residents' interactions and responses to interventions, providing feedback to nursing staff
-
Recognize and anticipate behavioral changes, including signs of agitation or potential aggression, and respond appropriately

Initiate and lead small group and recreational activities that meet residents' psychosocial needs

Assist residents on outings within the medical center and to outdoor or community areas
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and infection-controlled environment in accordance with VA policies and standards

Communicate with Veterans, families, visitors, and staff in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner

Protect resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
