J52 and J62 are 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry units specializing in the care of post-operative cardiac surgery patients and individuals with advanced heart failure requiring ventricular assist devices (VADs). These fast-paced units offer exceptional opportunities for professional growth, allowing nurses to develop advanced cardiovascular skills while caring for patients undergoing innovative and complex procedures. Common post-surgical populations include coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery, valve repair and replacement, ventricular assist device implantation, aneurysm repair, endarterectomy, maze procedures, and other specialized cardiovascular surgeries.
In addition to post-operative care, the units manage a wide range of acute cardiac conditions, including angina, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and patients requiring pacemaker or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) placement or removal. J62 also serves as a specialized unit for patients with ventricular assist devices, including left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and total artificial hearts, providing nurses with unique experience caring for patients supported by advanced mechanical circulatory devices.
