About the RoleAs a Senior Professional Staff Nurse, you'll be a key member of our care team, setting the standard for high-quality nursing care. You'll lead patient care activities, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support a healing environment through compassionate, evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities include:

Applying the nursing process through Relationship-Based Care

Creating personalized care plans with patients and families

Communicating effectively with care teams

Identifying and addressing clinical and psychosocial needs

Schedule
This position requires rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure 24/7 coverage in the Emergency Department.
Education & Experience:

BSN preferred; Master's in Nursing or related field may substitute for certification requirement.

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.

Must receive and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher rating on annual Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluations.

Completion of 2 professional contributions annually (or 1 contribution with certification), aligned with department, hospital, or system goals and approved by Unit Director per UPMC's My Nursing Career Ladder.

Licensure, Certifications & Clearances
Required:

Current RN license in Pennsylvania or a compact state.

CPR (BLS) certification per AHA standards (didactic + skills demo) within 30 days of hire.

ACLS, PALS, and NIMS certifications within 6 months of hire.
Preferred:
- UPMC-approved nursing certification (not required if Master's or DNP is held).
