We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Certified School Nurse (CSN) to join a supportive school team serving students in Romeoville, Illinois. Position Overview
The Certified School Nurse identifies and treats health conditions among students in the school setting. The CSN promotes student wellness through health assessments, disease prevention, health education, and coordination of care. This role is essential in ensuring students have the medical support needed to be safe, healthy, and successful in school.
This is a comprehensive school nursing role that includes managing the health office, conducting medical reviews, and participating in IEP and 504 processes. These responsibilities are integrated components of the position and are not separate roles.
Essential Responsibilities

Manage and oversee daily health office operations

Assess and respond to student health concerns and emergencies

Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies

Complete medical reviews and maintain accurate health records

Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans

Participate in IEP and 504 meetings and collaborate on student support plans

Monitor students with chronic and acute health conditions

Provide health education and promote disease prevention

Communicate effectively with families, administrators, teachers, and related service providers

Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal health regulations

Coordinate referrals to outside medical and community resources when appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Certified School Nurse (CSN) experience
-
Experience supporting students with behavioral and complex needs

Experience in special education or multi-needs programs

Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills
Minimum Requirements
-
Current nursing license for the state in which the nurse practices
-
Certification or credential in School Nursing (required)
-
Minimum of one year of prior school nursing experience (required)

Pediatric experience (preferred)
-
Current CPR certification, if applicable
-
TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable
-
Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Compensation
Up to $65 per hour , based on education, experience, and licensure.
