Evening/Overnight and Weekend General School Nurse (RN or LPN)
Location: Ashburnham, MA
School Year: 2026-2027
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week
Shift: Weekdays will be a mix of 2:00 PM-11:00 PM and 3:00 PM-11:00 PM shifts. Weekend shifts ( Friday-Saturday ) are 10:00 PM-6:00 AM . Candidates must be comfortable working evenings, overnights, and weekends .
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Pay Rate: Up to $53/hour for RNs (based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing services in a school-based setting serving students ages 14-21. This position is covering a medical leave and offers the opportunity to work with a diverse student population in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing IVs, blood draws, EKGs, and medication administration . School nursing experience is preferred; however, candidates with ER, ICU, or triage experience are encouraged to apply. This role is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about supporting students' health, safety, and educational success.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care and health services to students throughout assigned shifts.

Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical concerns.

Administer medications and monitor students for effectiveness and side effects.

Perform clinical procedures including IVs, blood draws, and EKGs as needed.

Maintain accurate nursing documentation using the SNAP charting system.

Monitor and manage students with acute and chronic medical conditions.

Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and wellness.

Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and implement nursing interventions as needed.

Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive educational environment.
Qualifications
Required
-
Current and active RN or LPN license.

Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Experience with IV starts, blood draws, EKGs, and medication administration.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently in a school-based setting.

Ability to pass all required background screening requirements.
Preferred
-
Previous school nursing experience.

Experience in ER, ICU, triage, or pediatric settings.

Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.

Experience managing a high-volume caseload.
