Job Summary
Geisinger's Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing practice at Geisinger Community Medical Center located in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties
Join our collaborative cardiothoracic surgery team and play a key role in guiding patients through every stage of their surgical journey, from initial evaluation to postoperative recovery.
In this role, you will:

Evaluate and prepare patients for cardiothoracic surgery in partnership with cardiac surgeons.

Coordinate preoperative testing, surgical scheduling, medical clearances, and patient education.

Manage outpatient referrals and participate in Heart Team discussions for valve and structural heart patients.

Round on postoperative cardiac surgery patients and assist with ongoing inpatient management.

Coordinate discharges, follow-up care, and recovery planning.

Conduct postoperative visits and manage patient questions, phone calls, and portal messages.

Education
Bachelor's Degree-Physician Assistant (Required), Master's Degree-Physician Assistant (Preferred)
Experience
Certification(s) and License(s)
Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
