Position Details: Mercy River Valley Orthopedic Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a part-time, 24-hour-per-week position. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to orthopedic patients throughout their surgical and recovery journey, ensuring a safe, positive, and healing experience. As a valued member of our orthopedic care team, you will collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes in a specialized orthopedic setting. Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Monitor and document patient condition and response to treatment. Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders. Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, and discharge planning. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care. Promote patient safety and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Deliver compassionate care while maintaining Mercy's mission and values. Qualifications Required Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current RN license Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred Previous orthopedic, surgical, hospital, or acute care nursing experience. Strong critical thinking and communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
