Position Summary
Warwick Public Schools is seeking a qualified and student-centered Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a School Nurse and support the health, safety, and academic success of all students. The RN provides leadership for school health services, delivers nursing care, manages student health needs, and collaborates with school staff, families, and community providers in compliance with district policies, Rhode Island regulations, and professional nursing standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive school nursing services to students including assessment, intervention, follow-up, and referral.

Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, district policy, and state law; maintain accurate documentation.

Develop, implement, and monitor:

Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs)
-
Emergency Action Plans
-
Health-related components of IEPs and 504 Plans
-
Assess and manage students with:
-
Chronic health conditions
-
Disabilities and medical complexity
-
Acute illness or injury
-
Serve as the primary health resource for the school community, including consultation with administrators, teachers, and special education teams.

Respond to medical emergencies , provide first aid and nursing care, and coordinate emergency response as needed.

Supervise and provide clinical guidance to LPNs, CNAs, and other assigned health staff , consistent with licensure and district procedures.

Maintain confidential student health records in compliance with FERPA , HIPAA (when applicable) , and district policies.

Support infection prevention and control practices throughout the school.

Communicate effectively with families, healthcare providers, and community agencies regarding student health needs.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.

Assist with health oversight of school activities, transportation, athletics, and field trips as required.

Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the scope of professional nursing practice and district needs.
