RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Nurse Manager is responsible for oversight of daily operations of the nursing unit, and supervisions and support of personnel and patients. The managerial/administrative role includes setting the standard of care in the department(s), and managing budgets consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of the organization.

Develops, establishes, and monitors plans and activities to ensure:
o Delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
o Effective planning and coordination of resources.
o Compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
o Achievement of goals and objectives.
- Participates in the long-term planning of assigned unit(s) and area(s).
IV. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Essential: Continuous: lifting up to 2 lb., seeing, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering, standing, walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling.

Frequent: pushing and pulling up to 30 psi, lifting up to 10 lbs., sitting, bending, squatting, twisting.

Occasional: pushing and pulling up to 70 psi; lifting: horizontal lift/carry up to 75 lbs. with assistance, floor to waist up to 35 lbs., waist to shoulder up to 25 lbs., overhead level up to 15 lbs.; carrying up to 35 lbs, running, climbing, side bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching.

Operates telephones, patient care devices, computers, surgical equipment, business copier.
V. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

Subjected to noise/vibrations from intercoms, telephones and monitors.

Exposure to body fluids and communicable diseases.

Working environment is fast paced and may be stressful.

Frequently works on multiple tasks and priorities at one time.
VI. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
-
Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.

Associate's Degree in Nursing.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
-
Current BLS/HCP certification. Additional certification(s) may be required based on area of assignment i.e., TNCC, ACLS, NRP, Fetal monitoring.
B. EXPERIENCE:

Minimum three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.

One (1) year as a charge nurse, clinical lead or other supervisory experience.

Experience to demonstrate:
o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
o Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel for reports, tables, and graphs.
