UPMC Chautauqua Units:

4D: This is a 30-bed Medical/Surgical unit. The unit can manage some stable pediatric admissions. This blended unit provides post-operative adult care as well as care for medical conditions. They provide wound care including wound vacs. Surgical patients include orthopedic, bariatric, urological and other general surgeries. It is a busy and fast-paced unit with a dedicated nursing staff who make teamwork and patient care a priority.

5D: This is a 30-bed telemetry unit. The unit provides care for adults 18 and older. They see patients with a variety of medical illnesses that require cardiac monitoring to manage their acute health conditions. 5D provides care of the patient through compassion, along with required anti-arrhythmic medications, electrolyte replacement, hemodynamic medication administration, and acute medical management. The unit also services patients that may require medical management of their withdrawal symptoms as well. It is an exciting and fast-paced unit with a compassionate nursing staff who make teamwork and patient care a priority.

Behavioral Health: This unit is comprised of 2 separate inpatient mental health units. We have a 20-bed unit for adults age 18 and older and a 10 bed adolescent unit for children under 18 years old. We focus on providing stabilization of mental health issues in order to discharge patients safely into the community. Our staff provide compassionate care to patients in mental health crises. Staff can take part in an interdisciplinary treatment team which makes decisions about treatment for each patient.

Emergency Department: This unit is a 28-bed state of the art emergency department that is comprised of primarily private rooms and sees approximately 100 patients per day. They offer care to all ages and presentations, have BH services, services for sexual assault victims and stabilized traumas, acute cardiac and neuro events. It is a busy and fast-paced unit with a dedicated nursing staff who make teamwork and patient care a priority.

Shifts/Hours: Our RNs work a variable 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.
Graduate Nurses must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role OR ability to start with Limited Permit and must obtain license within 6 months amount of time of beginning position. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on their individual experience and education.

Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.

PR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

ACLS required within 1 year of hire date

NIH required within 6 months of hire date

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Act 33 with renewal

Act 34 with renewal
