Position Purpose
At Saint Mary's Hospital , the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient General Surgery unit delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a fast-paced Med/Surg environment, caring for adult and geriatric surgical patients throughout their inpatient stay. This role focuses on post-operative recovery, ongoing assessment, and coordination of care, ensuring safe outcomes and a smooth transition from hospitalization to home or the next level of care.
What You Will Do

Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative general surgery patients, including assessment, pain management, wound care, and monitoring for complications.

Collaborate with surgeons, hospitalists, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient progression, recovery, and discharge planning.

Educate patients and families on post-surgical care, medications, activity restrictions, and recovery expectations to promote safe transitions.
Minimum Qualifications
Required :
-
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree in Nursing is required

Valid RN license in Connecticut

Ideal candidates will have one or more years of General Surgery, Med/Surg, or Acute Inpatient nursing experience.
Preferred :
- BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), certification support offered post-hire.
Position Highlights:

Full-Time: 30 hrs/week - Day Shift

The schedule would include two 12-hour shifts one week, and three 12-hour shifts the second week of each pay period.

Rotating weekends and holidays

Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $36.15 - $59.95/hour
