Location: Roanoke, VA
Shift: 6 PM - 6 AM (36/48 rotation)
Hours: Alternating 36 & 48 hours/week
Start: June 29, 2026 (ASAP considered)
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Orientation: 2-3 days

Role Overview
The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and compassionate nursing care to individuals in custody within a secure correctional facility. This role involves delivering both routine and emergency care while maintaining strict adherence to facility security protocols. The LPN works under the supervision of an RN or provider and plays a key role in supporting the overall healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities

Provide general and emergency nursing care in medical and ambulatory settings

Administer medications and treatments as ordered, following established protocols

Monitor patient conditions and report changes to RN or provider promptly

Perform focused assessments including vital signs and symptom evaluation

Assist with sick call, intake screenings, and chronic care management

Respond to medical emergencies within the facility

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided

Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare staff

Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and infection control procedures

Provide basic patient education within scope of practice

Schedule: 6 PM - 6 AM, 36/48 rotation

Compensation
Minimum Requirements
-
Active LPN license in the state of practice

Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (corrections experience preferred)

Current CPR certification (if applicable)

TB screening (PPD, questionnaire, or chest X-ray as required)

Current health certificate per state/contract requirements

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)

Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
